Another Sickness...

So now that Colten is all better and has completed one bottle of his antibiotics, it's only natural that I, the mommy, get sick. And boy oh boy did I get sick! I had to leave work this past Thursday at 1:00 and I barely made it home! Michael had to pretty much help me into bed. I was tired, sore, and feeling like death all Thursday night. It was awful! I had fever complete with chills, sweats, the whole nine yards. I felt a little better Friday, but had to stay home due to the fever. They are taking sickness pretty serious this time of year since the Swine Flu has begun to make it's rounds at NEFSH or Northeast Florida State Hospital... it's the psychiatric hospital that I work at.

I went back to work today. It was so nice to actually get out of the house!

I took some pictures of Colten today. He colored his first picture at daycare! Well, the teacher had to help him a lot since he kept trying to eat the crayons. It's offically going on my fridge. I can use my "Look what Colten did" magnet for the first time! I'm so excited that I just can't hardly stand it! He's walking pretty much 95% of the time now. He's walking faster and without my assistance. He's getting bigger everyday!

PRAYER REQUEST:

I am happy to report that Michael passed a vigorous Physical Test for a Security job at the state hospital where I work, NEFSH. It would mean so much for us if he got this job! If we were both state employees, all of our health benefits would be FREE! He had to run 1 1/2 miles, do sit ups, squats, and push ups all within a time limit. Out of 8 people, he was one of the four that got chosen for an interview!! His interview is tomorrow morning at 9:30. We pray that it is in God's will for him to get this job. Our family needs it so desperately, so pray for us!

Close to you...

Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

On the day that you were born
The angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue.

This is the song that I sing to Colten every night when I put him to bed. I still rock him to sleep every night. This time of day is my special time with my son...just me and my baby. Looking into his sweet little face with those big, blue eyes, I almost always get teary. I can't believe that something so beautiful came from me. I'm so incredibly blessed to be a mother. I love Colten more than anything in the entire universe. I never knew I was capable of such love until I gave birth to my baby boy. Michael and I are so incredibly lucky. Despite all that we have been through this year, we are so incredibly blessed.

The Mighty Sickness...

It all started Friday when I got home from work. I noticed he felt warm, so I checked his temperature. 102.7!!! I freaked out, called the doctor, who had to be paged since it was 5 SECONDS after 5:00. I gave him a dose of Motrin and Tylenol, just like the doctor said. I then gave him a lukewarm bath, which helped a lot to bring the fever down. It was back up in no time. He was up every hour that night with his temperature spiking up to 103.2 around 1 am. At 3:00, he finally fell asleep and slept until 7:30. We went to the doctor at 10:00 and found out my 11 month old baby has STREP THROAT! Michael got laid off from his job a few months ago, we just paid our mortgage, and we used the last $15 on the co-pay for Colten's appointment. The doctor told us his medicine was FREE at Publix Grocery Stores in Jacksonville! What a Godsend! God always finds a way to take care of me!! We got his medicine and headed back home. Michael agreed to take nighttime duty last night, since I was up the night before. He was still up every hour, this time until 5am. His throat is so sore, he just tosses and turns. He's so uncomfortable. Today has been much better! He's been playing, and has taken two naps. He slept for about 5 hours total today! He really needed the rest! After his afternoon nap and his snack (which was Gerber chesse puffs and unsweet tea), he was in a great mood! I have some pictures of him playing!
